Top 10 Exmoor Walks - Number 10 - Snowdrop Valley
Of our top ten Exmoor walks Snowdrop Valley from Wheddon Cross is a particualr favourite Exmoor walk in early Spring. When snowdrop valley, as the name suggests, is a carpet on white. The Exmoor walk is quite hilly from Wheddon cross and return, put it does have the bonus of having a Park and Ride scheme in early spring. So you can take a leisurely stroll down the hill and get the bus back. This Exmoor walk is 15 minutes drive from Dunster.
2 hours return or 25 minutes (Suitable for elderly, infirm or young children for lower portion or for hardening walkers for whole route.)

Stunning ancient woodland with carpet of snowrops in season. Views onto Dunkery beacon and down Aville valley from Wheddon Cross.

Top 10 Exmoor Walks - Number 9 - The Doone Valley
The Doone Valley - Needs very little introduction. The famous valley from the book Lorna Doone. A couple of charming tea rooms flank either side of this roughly 30 minute Exmoor walk location. 30 minutes drive from Dunster via , Minehead and Porlock.

Larely arable farmland in dramatic - Hobbitesque valleys.
Top 10 Exmoor Walks - Number 8 - Webbers Post - Horner (Easy Access paths too)
For the less able the disabled route with harden path and sculptures from Webbers post is suitable. For the hardened walker a 2 hour - 3 hour route from Horner to Webbers post and returning.
Park at Webbers post for a cream tea half way round, or at Horner for a rewarding tea and cream tea at horner on your return. This Exmoor walk is 15 minutes drive from Dunster.

Ideal for a rainy - Windy days as mostly protected by ancient massive Oak forests and deep valleys. Views from Webbers post are dramatic over the deep wooded valleys.
Top 10 Exmoor Walks - Number 7 - Hurelstone Point, Selworthy and Selworthy Beacon
A wide variety of Exmoor walks are available near Bossington, Allerford and Selworthy beacon. The views from these mostly protected south facing valleys are dramatic and offer incredible views down the coast.
Park at the top of the hill - Access North Hill via Minehead past St Micheals church.

This ancient megaltihic bridge offer an easy walk down from the carp park to the bridge and back. Easy Access. Or for the more adventurous follow the Barle in either direction for walks as long as you like. To Withypool.
Tarr Steps inn at tarr steps or Royal Oak at Withypool for tea rooms and pub/restaurant.
Scenery - Deep wooded valley and largest flowing body of water in the area. The barle River.
Top 10 Exmoor Walks - Number 4 Dunster to Grabbist
Grabbist is networked with a wide variety of paths. All of which can be accessed from Dunster village. grabbist towers over Dunster and offers stunning views inland towoards Somersets highest point DUnkery beacon, or across to Wales.
Most routes involve a hill of some kind. Walk from Dunster to Wooton Courtenay where you can grab a tea or lunch at the Dunkery Beacon Hotel. Or from Wootton Courtenay to Dunster. Takes 2-3 hours over the top of Grabbist or about 45 minutes by road on a quiet country lane.
A walk across Exmoor with incredible views in all directions. Free parking often found just outside Dunster by Foresters Arms, Wheddon Cross directionm on Knowle lane junction.
Top 10 Exmoor Walks - Number 3 Bats Castle
Bats Castle is a popular walking spot with locals year round offering a 1-2 hour walk. The views from the top across the aville valley to Dunkery are amongst the best in the area. Likewise views across to Dunster castle make this a popular spot for photography of the castle and Exmoor in general. Not too hard for kids.

A walk that every local does every year. the highest point in Somerset offers 360 degree open panoramic views across Exmoor. You can see Cornwall, Decon, Wales, As far as Bristol on a sunny day. Take the short and non steep route suitable for all. Or take the longer and steeper route from Dunkery Gate.(By small Bridge.)
For really fit walk up from Horner or Webbers post for averagely fit. 20 minutes drive from Dunster.

Put this in your top ten walks to do before I die. A stunngin Exmoor walk. This dramatic but safe cliff top walk offers scenery that will even have your kids gasping in delight. For those how don't like height don't woryy. The path is wide and well set back. Easily the most beautiful section of the South West Coastal path
Park at the Huntsman pub or near Woody Bay. (Bay is a misnomer - this "place" is balanced on a hill so steep you'll be suprised that people live here.
